Another wordless day

I bought a new MacBook Pro yesterday. Consequently, I haven’t written anything because I’m too busy being wowed by the shine of my new beautiful computer. You’ll just have to deal with more pictures of my beautiful girl. Oh, I did discover today, inbetween my two trips to the mall and the Apple store, that Courtney has two new teeth. Molars. On the top left and the top right. This explains oh so much about the crank and the drool and the gnawing and the not sleeping and the whining. Oooh, the whining.

It was a great weekend here in the ATL. The sun was out, the clouds were not and the pollen dusted everything you touched. I’m pretty sure spring has arrived, for realz.

We had a family Easter egg hunt on Saturday. I finally met the rest of Paul’s family, the few cousins I hadn’t had the opportunity to meet yet. Almost all of my MIL’s family was there, TONS of kids and lots of good eats. Courtney played with her cousins, the little and the big and had a great time. She was infatuated with the dirt and the rocks, by the time the day was over, Courtney was a MESS. Dirt and chalk and strawberries all over the front of her dress. It was awesome, she had a blast. And she completely grasped the concept of the egg hunt. She put her eggs in her little basket and then tried to steal them from others. It was a long and wonderful day and we were all exhausted by the end of it.

As you can imagine, I’m not a big Easter person. If we hadn’t had the family event, we would have had a quiet and uneventful weekend. But watching the day go by, the newness of it all, the eggs and the dirt and the creek and Courtney’s smiles, it was a magical day. She loved it. She won’t remember it, but I will.

Sunday I tried a kettlebell class, a 90 minute class. I had been wanting to try kettlebell’s for a while but didn’t want to do it on my own. I wanted to make sure I had the form and the moves down before buying any or trying a DVD. I’m glad I did it. It was hard but a great workout. I can totally see how kettlebells would kick your butt into shape. I was sore within an hour of the class being over. I’m not totally sure how I’m going to be able to lift Courtney tomorrow or get up and down the stairs. I bought a thing on Groupon, so I think I get 8 more classes or so. I’m hoping I can make at least once a week and when my package is over, I’ll be comfortable enough to do them at home. The instructor said that she cut out half her cardio routine in place of kettlebells and she was in BETTER shape than she was before she started. Hm, we’ll see.

We wrapped up our weekend with an excellent steak dinner out on our deck. The beautiful day ended with a sighting of two HUGE and gorgeous owls, that swooped in on a nearby tree. They looked around, looked at us and then moved off to another tree not too far away. I’ve never seen owls here before, especially owls so close. It was the perfect culmination of the perfect weekend.

I got up this morning to meet my friend at the Y to attend a 5:45 spin class. That meant that I got up at 5:11. The class was full. Isn’t that some crap?

Spring has arrived and my girl has a wicked cough. I don’t know if it’s allergies or a cold or what but coughs are no fun.

I know a couple of these are out of focus, I’m experimenting with my camera. I got a couple of GREAT shots yesterday, which are sadly out of focus. I’d upload them to my computer but I’m 99.9% out of room on my Mac and I’m not sure I can really upload anything else. As it is, surfing the web takes hours, don’t ask me to look anything up for you. The good news on that, there’s a new MacBook in my future!!

The bow is a fluke. I think she had it in for 1.8 minutes which meant I had to take these all very quickly.

For my mom

My mom used to sing this to me all the time when I was a teenager. Or, if the song came on the radio, she’d turn the volume up. I’m not really sure what she was trying to imply… Anyway, this came on the TV today, Courtney was a dancing fool.

Writers block

I’ve got nothing. I was going to talk about the gay prom date thing but it’s all so ridiculous, I can’t even give real estate to this. I mean, it’s 2010. If same sex couples want to go to the prom together, then what’s the problem? Don’t schools have more important things to worry about, like, I dunno, education? OK, so maybe I’ll gave it a little real estate.

We had a nice weekend here. Mother Nature’s been smoking dope because she can’t seem to remember if it’s winter or spring. Saturday was beautiful and Sunday was nasty. It’s supposed to be in the 50′s tomorrow and then in the high 70′s by the end of the week. Courtney and Paul are both sick. Coughing and runny noses. Courtney spent a lot of time Saturday night coughing. She didn’t seem to notice but I did. No wonder there. One day she’s wearing a sundress and the next her winter coat.

I think in total, I’ve consumed 10,000 calories this weekend. We (I) ate crap for dinner Friday night, had an actual date night on Saturday night where I ordered two desserts (but only ate 1, I didn’t like the other), and then had killer lasagna on Sunday night (thanks T!!) that was not made with low fat cheese. Oh, and I did have two helpings of dessert on Sunday night. Awesome. I went to the gym on Sunday to a body sculpt class but barely broke a sweat, although I’m sore, whatever. It was no Jillian Michaels workout DVD.

Our date night on Saturday was really nice. We went somewhere I hadn’t been in ages and my dinner was so good. (All 4000 calories of it.) The restaurant was loud but we had some nice conversation, we talked about some things that had been on my mind lately. I’ve felt like Paul and I hadn’t really talked much of late, especially about things that weren’t about toddlers. It was good for us to get out, it had been a long time. We ended our night with a trip to the bookstore, which as lame as that sounds, is one of my favorite things to do. I love walking through the bookstore, looking at the books, reading back covers, seeing what’s new and what I really what to read next. It was a great night, much needed.

So yeah, my writers block is lame. Instead of something riveting, you get my stream of consciousness of nothingness and boringness. Sorry about that. I haven’t even taken any pictures of my adorable girl so I can’t post those to end this with a smile.
