Anyone seen the sun?

Where to start…  There was much fun around here this weekend despite the fact that the sun didn’t shine and it’s raining and raining.  I didn’t exercise at all this weekend (FAIL) and ate a little too well (read: fattening) and may have fallen off the wagon and bumped my head on a bottle of white wine on the way down.  I had a girls night out, complete with raw fish and a chick flick.  We had a really good time but I don’t know that I ever need to see that much of Alec Baldwin again.  We also had a neighborhood cocktail party where I ate nothing but one inch squares of cheesecake and a bottle of white wine.  Good and healthy stuff.

I also got to see a bunch of Atlanta bloggers at Kristen’s book signing on Saturday.  I ate some (read: 2) of these delicious cupcakes but don’t feel too terrible as they were pretty tiny.  (Although, maybe I feel a little guilty because of those 1 inch square cheesecake bites I had for dinner.)

Hmmm, cupcakes

It was a great event though and I loved getting to meet Angela, Meghan, Carrie,  The Pilot (Mr Motherhood Uncensored) and seeing Julie and T.  I love the Beehive Co-op and if you’ve never been there, and live in Atlanta, I highly recommend it.  They have some wonderful stuff created by local artists.  We had a fun time and I’m getting pretty excited for Mom 2.0 and being around brilliant women and men.

I looked at another school Sunday for Courtney.  I think we’ve decided that we’re not going to do the school thing this fall but wait another year.  Courtney will just be so young and this year won’t be about learning as much as it will be about socialization.  So I think we’re going to keep Courtney busy and engaged and she’ll get enough socialization that way.  And, it’ll save us some money.  I’d still like to find a Mother’s Morning Out program  for 1 day a week so that I can get a few hours to myself.  And we all know that it’s all about me.  Me me me!!

I’ve been doing really well with the exercise and the healthy eating (not counting this weekend) of late.  I’ve decided that I can take 1 day off a week, as long as I can get back into the swing of things after the off day.  I’m losing my love of the shred, mostly because I want to do something else.  I’ve actually run on the treadmill a couple of times and it’s nice to mix things up a bit.  It would be nice to get outside for some exercise but, you know, it’s January and the rain and the cold and I guess we’ll stay inside.  I’m going to post some before and after pictures at some point but I feel like I look no different in the pictures.  Ho hum. At least my clothes are fitting better.

And the last bit of good news from the weekend….  If you aren’t a big blogger but have read about the Spohr’s on my site before, you know of their terrible loss of their daughter Maddie.  In April of last year, Heather and Mike experienced the most horrifying thing that could happen to anyone, the loss of a child.  And on Friday, they experienced the greatest joy ever – the birth of their baby girl, the Amazing Annabel Violet.  I don’t know the Spohr’s, but would know them if I tripped over them (which could be awkward) but I’m truly overjoyed for them.  I admit to rushing home from girls night on Friday night so that I could find an update to the “We’re having a baby today” announcement that was made.  I love that about the internet and this little blogging world, people who share their joys with total strangers and those of us who cry with them.
