Well, if 2010 were to end RIGHT THIS MINUTE and I were to look back and reflect, not only would I be bored out of my mind but I’d be unimpressed at all that I’d accomplished.
This weekend was spent mostly inside. I had a terrible cold and spent most of the time blowing my nose. Courtney didn’t quite have a cold (although she does now) and it didn’t seem right to drag her around. Oh, and as many of you know, it’s just plain COLD outside.
Saturday night we had plans to go out with our childless friends to a fancy restaurant and I had a sitter all lined up. I ended up canceling the sitter because of the snot and then the outing got canceled anyway because of snot for someone else. Paul took Courtney to his sisters for a visit and in all of my freedom, I went to the grocery store. I didn’t just go to one store, I went to 3 – Trader Joe’s, Whole Paycheck and Publix. WHAT A WASTE! It dawned on me later that I TOTALLY could have gone to the movies and I blew it. Well played.
We did go to the mall yesterday to get Courtney a new chair since she seems to be dying to rest her butt somewhere cozy and the fireplace hearth or the bottom step don’t seem all that cozy. Apparently the mall is where you go in Atlanta when it’s 30 degrees out and it’s the last day before kids have to go back to school, it was a zoo.
Anyway, now that I’ve bored you to tears… I have managed to stick with the Shreds all 4 days (I know, big deal, 4 days) of the year despite the fact that I can’t breathe and I keep having to stop to blow my nose. According to my unscientific record keeping, I have worked out 18 of the past 21 days, which for me, is awesome. Sadly for me, the scale hasn’t budged an inch in either direction, and neither have my hips if the pants I wore yesterday are any indication of how things are going. Now, I’m sure Mexican food for dinner last night (I did manage to limit myself to 5 chips though!) and apple pie and Christmas cookies and cheese and cheese and cheese have not helped and there’s been a lot of that over the past 21 days.
My shopping excursion on Saturday night consisted of buying lots and lots of vegetables. Yesterday I chopped them all up and roasted them with some olive oil, rosemary and thyme. It was this HUGE mound of veggies, I was thinking it would last the majority of the week. Nope, they were half gone yesterday at lunch. I guess healthy eating for 3 is going to require MORE food, and a lot more money, because apparently the entire head of cauliflower, and other goodness, isn’t enough for 2 meals…
I’m commited to keeping with the Shreds for the month though. It’s ONLY 30(1) days, I’m sure I can do something for 30 days in a row, right?

You can do it! Mmm roasted veggies – I need to do that as well.
Hope you feel better!
Keep up the good work. Healthy food and exercise does the body good!
YOU CAN DO IT! We can do it together! My mom has been doing it with me 1-2 days a week and it’s fucking hard. We’re both in there grunting and sweating and growling at the DVD the whole time. I wanted to give up today, but afterwards I’m always glad I don’t. The scale keeps going UP for me……
